The Nations Championship – Kicking Off 2026
A brand new era of international rugby is underway with the launch of the Nations Championship, and in 2026, Ireland will be right at the heart of it. This landmark competition brings together the world’s leading rugby nations in a high-stakes tournament played across July and November, culminating in a showpiece final later in the year.
Every two years, the Six Nations teams (Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, France and Italy) will compete alongside the SANZAAR nations (New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Argentina), joined by invited teams including Japan and Fiji. The result is a calendar packed with elite international rugby and meaningful fixtures outside of World Cups and Lions Tours.
Ireland’s 2026 Campaign
Ireland’s Nations Championship journey begins in summer 2026, travelling to the southern hemisphere for three blockbuster Tests against Australia, Japan and the All Blacks in New Zealand. The competition then resumes in November, with Ireland facing Argentina, Fiji and South Africa, before the tournament concludes with a grand final in London between the top two teams.
